Demolishing Sarge's Store

10-22-08 and 11-23-08 Jefferson Notch Road, NH. 3009 feet

We park on the lower breaches of Mount Jefferson. Right across from Mount Washington. Sometimes we have to drive to the top of Jefferson Notch to get good snow. Ryan had to do this for his ride on 10-22-08. But New Hampshire has had cold weather this fall and all precipitation has been snow. We had 4-6 inches new on the ground.

Ed hanging out at the top of the Notch. An excellent place to be. Sun coming in and out. 16-18 F. This is the highest elevation reached by a public highway in the State of NH. The Mount Washington Auto Road goes right up to the top of Mt. Washington, 6288 feet, but most if that road is privately owned.

More gloating... Still can't believe the snow was this good.

Ryan making a run. Probably checking out his new jacket and bibs...

Everything appears to be in fine order...

Nice scenery..., That's over by the hip of Mt. Washington, Ammonoosuc Ravine. You can hike the hiking trail right up the back side of Mt. Washington. It basically follows a river bed up to the Lakes of the Clouds Hut. Don't hike it like we did during a rain storm. The Cog Railway is also right by the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trailhead.

Duke was helping us out too. He was out checking snow depths in his flashy new "Please do not shoot at me, I am not a deer" vest.

Duke chomping on a Dental Bone on the way back to the Marina. He's been taking good care of his teeth and watching out for gingivitis.

Bretton Wood Ski Area. Natural and man made snow all over the place. It was pretty windy down here in the lowlands. Up in the Notch the wind was nil. We hope you have enjoyed our pics. We'll get you more boat pics as soon as the ice melts...
