Take the Factory Tour
There's the mailbox at 925 Frisbee St. Cadillac, Michigan
Here's where it all starts. 20 mils of premium gel coat are applied inside the mold. This gel coat is well known for it's fade resistant properties. Four Winns maintains their molds very well. That's why our boats are shinier than our competitors.
Lamination- Here's where layers of cloth are applied to make up the strength of the hull or deck. Go ahead and knock on the sides of our boats. (forget about kicking the tires) They will sound heavier/stronger. That's because they are !!!!
The stringers are installed- Cruisers, 200 Horizons and 205 Sundowners all get fiberglass encapsulated stringers. 170H, 180H, 190H, 210H, 215S, 230H, 235S, 260H, 265S, 280H and last but not least the 285 Sundowner get the new all fiberglass stringer system. Four Winns builds boats to last. You will get a better trade-in value. Winnisquam Marine has been able to sell used boats in the 1986 - 1998 range for 10-30% above book value. People who take good care of their boat will do better when it comes time to sell/trade it !!!!
Deck and Hull assembly- Not quite a boat yet, but soon to be. Here is where all the components are installed. All options are installed easily because of great accessibility. All the components that Four Winns uses really are quality items. Their buyer does not purchase the least expensive horns, steering cables, cleats, fabrics, etc... He/she has chosen a higher quality component. This is one of the things you are paying for when you purchase a Four Winns-and you receive it.
In goes the engine. All Four Winns (I/O) come with Volvo sterndrives. They have cone clutch shifting which is more reliable than Mercruisers old pawl clutch dog. AND- You receive a 2 year warranty standard on the engine and drive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Into the test tank she goes !!!! Just like Winnisquam Marine all products are tested before they leave. Really- Ed saw it. The engine and systems (bilge pump, blower, lights, horn, dash panel, etc...) are checked and repaired if necessary. The guys/gals at the tank say that they repair very little here. They give the line all the credit for assembling it correctly the first time. At the marine it is very, very rare that we have a problem with a new boat prep.
All done- Here your new boat either gets loaded directly onto it's trailer and then onto the transport -or- it may get set into the racks awaiting other boats to finish so a load can be made up.
Thanks for taking the tour!!!!
